How I Get Ready for a Party

Hey guys!  When I have a long day of making myself look good for a party,  I have a lot of work to look the best I can.  So here's how I do it.

When I wake up I grab a bottle of water and do a 30-minute work out.  It helps with bloat, after all you want to fit into that dress later, right?  Then I eat a yogurt with a handful of Kashi Go-Lean cereal.  Both of those foods help with bloat too.

Then I cleanse my face.  After my face is cleansed, I put on a mask.  I let it sit the required amount of time then wash it off.  I tone and moisturize my face as usual after that.

After my face is clean I do my nails.  Clip, file, buff, paint, let dry is the process I tend to go with for both my hands and feet.  Then I clean around the nails as best as I can.

After the nails are done, I shower.  Showering after you paint your nails can help get rid of all the polish on your skin if you're a messy painter like me.  In the shower I wear a shower cap if my hair isn't too greasy, otherwise I wash it with shampoo and instead of using conditioner I put on a hair mask for 10-15  minutes.  While the hair mask is sitting there I shave and wash my body.

After the shower I put lotion on.  I let it sit for awhile before putting on a pair of jeans and shirt.

Finally I get to the point where I do my hair.  This is my second favorite part of getting ready.  It usually takes me up to an hour to do my hair, so I have to make time for it.

After my hair is finished, I do my make up.  I like to put on foundation for parties, otherwise I skip it since my skin doesn't have many problems.  Then I do my eyes, cheeks, and lips.  Like any smart person, I only draw attention to one of the features.  Also I don't like to do the matchy-matchy thing with the outfit I'm wearing.  I usually compliment it with a soft neutral smokey eye (taupe eyeshadow on the lids and some black eyeliner)  and a soft pink lip.

After all of that is done, I spray some perfume and get into my dress and accessories.  As you can see it takes forever for me to get ready for a party, but it is definitely worth it.

What's your favorite part of getting ready for parties?

I Love Them!: Tumblr Nail Blogs

Hey guys!
So everyone knows Tumblr, right?  Well I fell in love with a few nail blogs recently.  Check them out:

Cindy's Nails

I'm pretty sure this is the first nail blog I've ever followed on tumblr.  She is so good at nails! And she has some really helpful tips.  Plus she loves her followers and she replies to every message the send her.

Arrested Nails

I just started following her tonight, but she's truly talented! All of her designs show her style, and they're bright and fun too!

Nail Polish of Pretty Little Liars

This blog shows tutorials on how to get the Pretty Little Liar's nails and it also shows you similar colors to what each character was wearing in each show.  It's perfect for all you PLL fans out there!

What blogs do you love on tumblr?

Summer Beauty: Sunscreen

Hey lovelies!

So the worst thing ever for your skin is getting burnt, and it only takes 15 minutes out in the sun for that to happen.  I got badly burnt on Monday and I'm still in pain.  So how do you avoid getting burnt?

Wearing sunscreen really helps.  Every year before this year, I would hate tanning.  It's so bad for your skin, it ages you, and all of that stuff.  This year though, I actually wanted to stop looking so pale.  So on Monday I went to the beach with my best friend.  I put on sun screen, SPF 50 to be exact, and just laid out in the sun for 4 hours.  I could feel the burn the last half hour I was there.  It only got worse, and I ended up getting sun poisoning.  I feel better now, but I know that it's something that no one wants to get.

What should you look for in your sunscreen bottle?  Well make sure it's at least SPF 30.  Also make sure it protects against UV-A and UV-B rays.  Look at the ingredients and make sure it contains zinc oxide or titanium oxide.  Those two ingredients help block harmful UV rays.

How should it be applied?  It should be applied 15-30 minutes before going outside, that way your skin can absorb it.  Also make sure to reapply it ever 2 hours.  If you're swimming, sweating, or using a spray sun screen, make sure to apply that every 60-90 minutes.

Make sure to use these tips the next time you plan to be out in the sun!

How to Wear Sheer Tops (Without revealing too much!)

I think you all have seen this trend by now.  Bare skin, bras showing, a sultry glamour that has graced the bodies of women everywhere.

Something like this, but maybe not as fancy, right?
It's a great trend, don't get me wrong, but I have seen so many girls give it a bad name.  So here are my rules for this trend:

Where not to wear this:
  1. School.
  2. The office.
  3. Wherever conservative people are, basically.

It's inappropriate to wear this at those places, I'm sure you all can agree.  I really hate seeing this in school.  These girls put on their old and ratty bras, super slutty bras, or even a bra that was made for the disney-loving tweens.  So what goes underneath?

A bandeau.  This works out in most situations.  You can get a lacy one, a fun pattern, or even a plain one.  (Aerie has some really cute ones here.)

In some situations you can wear a bra.  A plain, black bra could work.  In fact, its my top choice if you must go this way.  You can do a lacy bra also, but use that for special occasions only.

Bandeaus don't belong under sheer tops only though.  You can wear them with several different kinds of shirts.  I love wearing my bandeaus with over sized tank tops, lace/crochet tops, and those adorable cut out tops.

How else would you wear this trend?
